Together, we can tackle climate change. First, we need to understand what's going on and why. Then, if we each take action, we can collectively stop climate change from getting worse. That's what Calderdale Climate Challenge is all about.

Our planet is surrounded by a blanket of gases which keeps the earth able to sustain life. But when we use energy in our homes, at work or on the move, we release millions of tonnes of gases into the atmosphere, making that blanket thicker and trapping heat.

A warmer climate? Here in the north, that sounds like a good thing. But we could also feel the damaging force of severe storms, floods and dangerous heatwaves.


Here in Calderdale, we release 1.5 million tonnes of carbon-dioxide each year. That's the equivalent of a layer more than two metres thick across the whole district. How do we do it?
