Watch Out for weird weather
Sun
Factory
Aeroplane
Why, why, why

Brrrr...it's usually cold in Calderdale, isn't it? Trouble is, climate change won't really mean warmer summers. But it could bring us freak floods, strong winds and weird weather. So homes might flood, and sea levels in Britain and around the world could rise. In other countries, droughts could mean no food or water for people.

So, what can we do?
Turn off the lights
Turn of computers
Put on a jumper

Obvious, isn't it.use less fuel and less electricity at home, at school and at work.

Let's all...

  • Turn off the lights when we're not using them.
  • Turn off TVs, computers and so on, instead of leaving them on stand-by
  • Close doors and windows so we don't need the central heating and fire so much
  • Put on a jumper instead of the fire!
  • Use energy-saving lightbulbs
  • Walk, cycle, take the bus or go by train now and then, instead of the car
  • Recycle as much as we can - because that means we don't need as much energy to make new things!

Competition rules

We'll be picking our monthly prize at the end of every month in 2007 (from April). These consist of a free family ticket to Eureka, two children's First Day OUT tickets and two First Day tickets for adults. Our MP3 winners will be chosen at the end of May, July, September, November and, finally, in January 2008. Each entry will be eligible for both the Eureka/First Bus and the MP3 prizes.
Entrants must be under 18 years, and either live or attend school in Calderdale. We can only accept three entries per named child throughout the year. The judges' decision will be final.
